This Tutti Frutti halo pendant necklace is inspired by the Art Deco movement’s emphasis on symmetry and geometric patterns together with the flamboyant and pronounced central gems of classic Cocktail Jewellery. The pendant hangs on an 18 inch trace chain which has an adjuster link at 16 inches so it can be worn at either length. It is beautiful worn on its own, layered with other necklaces, and complimented by other pieces from the Tutti Frutti collection.

Metalwork

The halo, basket and bail were created by forming and shaping metal bullion using traditional mounting methods. These ‘master’ components are then used to create moulds from which wax versions are made, and these waxes are cast into 9ct or 18ct recycled rose gold using the ‘lost wax’ casting method. The component castings are filed, emeried and smoothed before being soldered together using gold solder and a blowtorch. The bail is threaded with gold chain and the jump rings and catch are laser welded for strength and durability.

Gems

The gems are responsibly sourced by a trusted dealer based in Hatton Garden, London who we work closely with to ensure the highest quality and most vibrantly coloured stones. The central 8mm brilliant cut rhodolite garnet is claw set and finished with talons and ringed by twenty four 1mm blue sapphires individually set into the halo using the thread and grain technique.

Finishing touches

The completed necklace is sent to the Assay Office in Edinburgh for Hallmarking before returning to Shetland to be given a final finish and polish.

The necklace is presented in a high quality satin textured and chamois lined pendant box.
