Earring Design

These Tutti Frutti hoop halo earrings draw inspiration from the Art Deco movement's emphasis on symmetry and geometric patterns, combined with the bold and flamboyant central gems characteristic of classic Cocktail Jewellery. The hoop-halo link is angled to ensure the halos face subtly forward for maximum visual impact. They can be worn as standout pieces on their own or complemented by other items from the Tutti Frutti collection.

Metalwork

The hoops, earwires, halos and baskets were created by shaping and forming metal bullion using traditional mounting techniques. These ‘master’ earring components are then used to create moulds from which wax versions are made, and these waxes are cast into 9ct or 18ct recycled gold using the ‘lost wax’ casting method. The component castings are filed, emeried and smoothed before being soldered together using gold solder and a blowtorch.

Gems

The gems are responsibly sourced by a trusted dealer based in Hatton Garden, London who we work closely with to ensure the highest quality and most vibrantly coloured stones. Each central 6mm brilliant cut peridot is claw set and finished with talons and ringed by twenty 1mm orange sapphires individually set into the halo using the thread and grain technique.

Finishing touches

The completed earrings are sent to be Hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office before returning home to Shetland to be given a final finish and polish.

The earrings are presented in a high quality satin textured and chamois lined box.
