Note that amethyst translates from the Greek word améthystos and literally means “not intoxicated”. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst jewellery and made drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication, so this could be the perfect ring for a night out!”

earring Design
These Tutti Frutti hoop halo earrings are inspired by the Art Deco movement's focus on symmetry and geometric patterns, combined with the bold and prominent central gems characteristic of classic Cocktail Jewellery. The hoop-halo link is angled to subtly face forward, ensuring maximum visual impact. They can be worn as standout pieces on their own or complemented by other items from the Tutti Frutti collection.
Metalwork
The earrings’ hoops, earwires, halos and baskets were created by forming and shaping metal bullion using traditional mounting techniques. These ‘master’ earring components are then used to create moulds from which wax versions are made, and these waxes are cast into 9ct or 18ct recycled white gold using the ‘lost wax’ casting method. The component castings are filed, emeried and smoothed before being soldered together using gold solder and a blowtorch.
Gems
The gems are responsibly sourced by a trusted dealer based in Hatton Garden, London who we work closely with to ensure the highest quality and most vibrantly coloured stones. Each central 6mm brilliant cut Sky Blue Topaz is claw set and finished with talons and ringed by twenty 1mm purple amethysts individually set into the halo using the thread and grain technique.
Finishing touches
The completed earrings are sent to be Hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office before returning home to Shetland for a final polish.
The earrings are presented in a high quality satin textured and chamois lined box.
